We are environmental, environmental justice, transportation, clean energy, and labor organizations advocating for an all electric school bus fleet in New York State. We prioritize mandates, funding and supporting transitions that center equity, and just labor considerations.

Letter to Governor Hochul Re: Zero Emissions School Bus Priorities
We sent a letter to Governor Hochul on January 13, 2022, just a week after she made a first-in-the-nation proposal for a statewide rapid transition to a 100% zero emissions school bus fleet. Our letter highlights key budget asks, as well as labor and equity considerations that will allow her proposal to turn into a reality.

These bills work in tandem to allow for the reimbursement of school districts for the purchase or lease of electric school buses in order to assist districts in covering the cost of purchasing electric school buses.

NY Governor Hochul Commits to 100% Electric School Bus Fleet Statewide
January 6, 2022 Today, Governor Kathy Hochul established a goal to electrify New York’s entire school bus fleet by 2035. The governor announced a plan to introduce legislation with this commitment, along with a requirement that all new school bus purchases are electric starting in 2027.
